KNITTED CASTLES

Vidid shots of Scotland's lush forest, dilapidated castles and the always stoic Tilda Swinton are the ingredients to Pringle of Scotland's short film, directed by Ryan McGinley. Shot 15 minutes away from Swinton's home in east Inverness, the video is an oddly intense, beautifully scenic film that creatively shows off a few new looks from the company's spring/summer collection.

They have also released another film which premiered at Milan Fashion Week to celebrate its return to Italy. Animated by David Shrigley, this video is much less dramatic and rather an outrageously humorous, behind the scenes look at what goes into the making of a Pringle of Scotland sweater.

No need to find a radioactive spider for those powers you have been longing for, this fall we can all be superheroes. After flipping through all the pre-fall collections I think I may have discovered a more fashionable, yet still comfortable alternative to that Snuggie you have been secretly wanting to order. You may now tell all the kids who laughed at you on the playground for wearing your superman cape everyday that you were just ahead of your time.

AHEAD OF THE CURVE

As my local magazine store owner knows all to well, I have been not-so-patiently waiting for the newest V Magazine to arrive. The new issue is titled, "The Size Issue" and pays tribute to bodies of all sizes from the mini Dakota Fanning to Push's curvy star Gabourey Sidibe. It also features multiple stories on Marthe Lagache, Dianne Brill, and bodybuilder Lisa Lyon most all of which rose to fame in the 80's, a time when curves were actually encouraged.
My favorite part of the size issue was a spread photographed by Terry Richardson called "One Size Fits All". It features Jacquelyn Jablonski and the voluptuous Cyrstal Renn modeling the same outfits in the similar poses, vividly showing that the latest fashions can look just as good, if not better on a real woman than a size 0.

And so while I am quite aware that this issue has been run to the ground, I figured why not stomp on it one more time. What I don't understand is that ever since the rise of Kate Moss' "heroine chic" everyone talks about how dangerously skinny today's models are; but instead of returning to the fit, yet slender figures of late 80/90's supermodels the issue has seems to have gotten worse, hiring 14 years old girls and then telling them they are too fat for the runway. Designers have said that they prefer size 0 models because the clothes look like they are on a hanger when wore by them, but aren't clothes supposed to accentuate the female form?

While it will certainly take a lot to increase the numbers on the model scale, with enough persuasion having boobs and an ass might one day be a considered good thing again. However until then enjoy these pictures of the lovely Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Lara Stone and my favorite spread from V's newest issue.

MUSE OF THE MOMENT

Hello Miss Abbey Lee. This Australian beach bum is possibly my favorite model at the moment. I don't know about you all, but I am always quite shocked to find that models are real people, and not just these tall, beautiful foreign creatures. I think the idea is so perplex to me because they portray all these personalities on the runway, in magazines, on billboards, that I see them as so many different people, my brain cannot keep up. But I am in love with Abbey because even though she has posed for everything from Victoria Secret's Pink line to an edgy editorial for i-D, I somehow can still get an idea of who she is as a person. I also really like her personal style because it says a lot about her, which is really what fashion is all about, portraying bits of your personality through your clothes. Anyways enough of my absurd late night thoughts. I seem to have turned into an insomniac and so have apparently lost my mind a little bit. So in case you haven't completely skipped over my verbal craziness already, here are some of my favorite shots of the lovely Abbey Lee Kershaw.

SANTA IS GOING TO KILL SUMMER

Between Alexander Wang's blacked out collection to Proenza Schouler's Ivy League chic look I am in pre-fall bliss, and so have decided it would be best to for everyone to skip summer and just move directly to fall. I believe in this season skip so strongly that I have made a list as to why it would be best.

Reason 1: With my sudden objection to all things pants, fall's "who need pants, just wear tights under anything look" works out perfectly for my wardrobe.

Reason 2: I can save everyone from bikini diet stress. You can eat as many cookies as you'd like and even save one for later, just stick it in the pocket of your new Pringle of Scotland coat. (Although this is not something I would advise as crumbs in pockets do not make for happy cleaning, plus why would you ever put a COOKIE in your Pringle of Scotland jacket, come on now.)

Reason 3: By going from May straight to September, December will come three months sooner, and jolly old St. Nick will be dropping off Thakoon's new drop-crotch pant (that is quite a funny term) before you even know it.

So I feel like I have presented a valid case, and will have to schedule a meeting with Mother Nature sometime soon to figure out the details. Maybe I will try to bribe her with some Tory Burch rain booties...

I was flipping through some past seasons of Chloe shows and saw a picture of creative director Hannah MacGibbon at her Fall 2009 show. I cannot say I have ever seen sweats look quite as classy.

With the year coming quickly to an end, there has been the inevitable recollection of all things 2009. Style.com recently posted their favorite dresses of '09, and while I do agree that most of their choices are fantastic (as they should be, after all it is style.com), I myself am partial to a few of my own favorite looks of this past year. So, without further adue, here is my 10 best dressed of the incredibly uplifting year that is 2009. (sarcasm intended).

LE DEBUT

Hello all (or none I as this is my first post, and I am undoubtedly the only person aware of this blog),
However on the rare occasion that someone besides myself comes across this site, I figured I should introduce myself. I am a fashion journalism student living in San Francisco. I figured since about 90% of the world's population have a blog, I should probably jump on the band wagon, like the original person that I am. Most posts will most likely be fashion related, but I will certainly cover anything that interests/inspires me whether it be art, music, photography etc. Just to give you an idea about me, here are a few, or more like a few too many, pictures to summarize my favorite places/people/things etc...
